The First Day

Thanks for the prayers for a safe flight; we made it! Albeit groggy due to no sleep on the way over, all 23 of us are excited and settling into our flats. And by settling in I mean dumping our suitcases in some drawers and power napping before we go on a walking tour of Kensington so we don't get a) lost b) mugged or c) confused as to which way the Underground is.

We took a double decker bus (!) from Heathrow to Kensington, and along the way we all oggled at the new soccer stadium that cost upwards of 80 million pounds and were given a brief summary of the area we're staying in. Kensington is the wealthiest area in London and is home to Margaret Thatcher, Chris Martin, and a dozen other people who's names I can't remember right now. In some areas, you have to be approved to even put a bid in on a flat, and nothing sells for less than about half a million pounds. It's intimidating.

I'll post pictures of where Amanda and I are rooming later, but for now I'm going to try and locate some caffeine so I can make it until 8 p.m. tonight. That's what I'm telling myself anyways. As soon as 6 rolls around I know I'm going to be out like a light.
